3. A UNIX based TN3270 Server that provides access via SNA to mainframe applications for TN3270 clients on a TCP/IP network.

The solution achieved here actually builds on the concepts established in solution #1. In this case, the SNA PU2 emulation device remains and the 3270 emulation client process is replaced with a TN3270 Server process. Going back to our Telnet Client and Server definitions, the TN3270 client software packages on the TCP/IP network connect to the TN3270 Server process running on the UNIX system. The server process then delivers the LU2 data to SNA for transport into the mainframe applications. Figure 6 illustrates this approach.
